Wilco, Berkeley, Greek Theater, Sept. 21, 2012

I couldn't believe my luck when I check Pollstar in advance of a trip to San Francisco for a work conference and saw that Wilco had a two-night stand in Berkeley. I couldn't pass it up. It was completely worth the 45 minute BART ride and mile uphill hike to the venue. It was a perfect night for an outdoor show. I only had my phone with me, so photos are so-so. But the video is California Stars, which seemed appropriate. Heard lots of favorites, Impossible Germany, Box Full of Letters, I'm the Man Who Loves You, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, Heavy Metal Drummer, Shot in the Arm...

Girl in a Coma, Frank, Aug. 31, 2012

I was very excited when my friends Daniel Senyard and Shannon Delaney of Vivogig invited me to the  launch party of the music photo app. One of my favorite Texas bands, Girl in a Coma, was playing. I interviewed them a few years back on the Gibson bus during SXSW, and they are talented and nice people.

The show was at Frank, upscale hot dog joint by day, music some nights. Openers were also great - the Baker Family and Mobley. It was an excellent time.

Fosskit No. 5 & Brent Adair, In.gredients, July 28, 2012

There's nothing better than a lovely evening of talented friends. Neal Mehta and his band Fosskit No.5 helped open the new In.gredients store on Manor, and Brent Adair came out of early retirement for his first show in two years. Both sounded great. We all need to get together again soon!

Barenaked Ladies, ACL Live, July 21, 2012

I've been a fan of BNL for a long time. 20 years to be exact. I first saw them in September of 1992, in Cincinnati, OH, at a club called Bogart's. That was just a couple months after they released their first CD Gordon. Since then, I've seen them tons of times - in many states and a few countries -  so it was great to hear that they were passing through Austin on the Last Summer on Earth Tour.

Many of their songs deal with memories and the past, so it was an appropriate theme for my 20th anniversary with them. Fun show, played all the hits. Ed did a great job on the songs that Steve used to lead (Steve's no longer with the band - sadly). It's wonderful to see these guys still making beautiful music after all this time.

I didn't have my regular camera, and my iPhone photos weren't too great. But the videos I shot are OK. Enjoy!
