Spoon at Scoot Inn

Spoon was definitely the show to be at last night. By the time I first heard about it, the tix had already sold out, so I was ecstatic when Josh Shepherd tweeted that he had a pair to sell. Thx, Josh!!! It was a fantastic night, beautiful weather, outside venue... and the show was brilliant. They played some new tunes, then launched in to several favorites, including selections from 2007's GaGaGaGaGa, as well as their back catalog (Small Stakes, My Mathematical Mind). It was all about the music, incredibly engaging...the crowd was with them the whole time. Can't wait to hear the new CD.

Fastball Releases new CD

April 14th was the big day for Fastball. They released their new CD, Little White Lies, with an instore at Waterloo and then Tony, Miles and friends played later at Vino Vino. They've been getting lots of good press on the CD, including a Statesman article with great front page photo, as well as my review in the current Texas Music Magazine. Show some love and run out there and pick up the CD.

Salim Nourallah at Momo's

Salim Nourallah is not only a great producer (Old 97s, Rhett Miller), he's a great singer/songwriter, too. He visited Austin this weekend and played with another veteran producer, Billy Harvey.

I interviewed Salim recently for Texas Music Magazine, regarding his work on the forthcoming Rhett Miller CD. That's on stands now.
